August is here and everyone just wants to party, where else better to go than Lizard Lounge on First Thursday. The performance by Dominic Castillo and the Rock Savants was a show to remember. Brin Levinson’s joined in the fun with his very colorful art show, both involved created a perfect night at the Lounge.

Brin Levinson is our featured artist for the month. Brin’s grandmother is a famous landscape painter in Virginia and he has always been surrounded by artists. Eventually, over the years, color became a large part of his work. He dreamed of places with colors like brilliant stained glass windows. It made him realize that color is something he needs to use and understand as an artist. He draws a lot of inspiration from his dreams and places he has been. His current Urban Dreamscape series is a reflection of his most nostalgic dreams. Brin will be showing his Art from August 7th to August 31st, come check it out!

Dominic Castillo and the Rock Savants was our featured musician for the evening. Dominic Castillo creates music that exudes intelligence and irony and reflects the varied life of its songwriter. He has lived for the most part on the Central Coast of California, but also in Boston, while studying jazz at Berklee College of Music, and then in Santa Fe, New Mexico, reading the classics at St. John's College. He is equally in love with words and the ineffable ring of guitars, and matches carefully crafted lyrics with the clangor of distortion. They induce sympathetic vibrations in the heart; they are all treasure and humor and passionate agony, conveyed through a voice that whispers and soars and a guitar that must be alive. Of course, having three Rock Savants backing you up doesn't hurt either.

Widmer Brewery came through again with the booze and set the night right.
