The stars aligned last Saturday night as Michael Franti joined us at Lizard Lounge to help us celebrate the re-birth of Nau.  We invited 100 of Horny Toad, Lizard Lounge, and Nau’s closest friends and held a private party featuring Michael Franti and his guitarist David, who played a short set to an enthusiastic and captivated audience. 

Little did we know that the path leading Michael to Lizard Lounge started long before our conversation with him only two weeks prior to the event.  His band manager is a huge fan of Nau, and knew all about its history and philosophy.  When we asked if Michael would be interested in joining us for the celebration of Nau’s re-birth, much to our delight there was no hesitation.  Two weeks later Michael welcomed us with open arms.

Michael played songs from his older albums and shared a few from his newest release, “All Rebel Rockers” which came out early last week.   Our friends and partners who’ve supported Nau through its transition mingled about sipping sake from our local sake company Sake One and beer from the Deschutes brewery.  Everyone’s attention was quickly turned to the bare-foot Mr. Franti as he sang and talked about creating positive social change.  His performance was honest and inspiring, saying that “no one man can save us” and that it will take the effort of all six billion people on this earth to create change.
